I’ve had several requests for a new blog to update my condition. The bottom line is that I’m feeling better—stronger even. Cardiac Rehab continues to go very well and in the last three sessions I’ve actually felt good enough to push myself. In fact I’ve come close to breaking a sweat! No big deal for most, but I haven’t broken a sweat in over two months (outside of a fever, of course). My prayer is that as I continue to push my physical condition, strength will return to its former state. I can do almost everything I was doing before, but only for short stints. Really the only things I haven’t tried are running (I did two miles the day before I became sick) and the ellipticals at the fitness center (I did those every workout, but they won’t let me touch them yet in Rehab).
Today was my first day to try yard work. Believe it or not this has been one of my favorite activities every Spring and Summer. I couldn’t do the mowing, but the Lord has blessed me with a strapping 12 year old son to manage those tasks. The raking and sweeping and weed pulling were mine and I managed those for a while. Eventually I grew tired and had to stop. It’s hard not to feel frustrated when these moments hit. I know I’m supposed to give it time; I know this whole process takes a while. But come on!
OK. I’ll keep resting on the following scripture—and it is happening (but the Lord is not slow in keeping his promises, right?): “And the God of all grace, who call you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.â€
