I’m finding more and more of my life is being grafted into technology. At first, it was the technology on my PC, then it expanded to the technology on my phone. Now it’s the technology out in the clouds. More and more, I find the need to access personal data when I’m out and about. When all of that data is on one PC at home, that can be difficult. That’s why life is moving to the clouds. Web services are beginning to offer secure ways of managing your finances, documents, personal notes, and anything else you can think of.
Now I can access those things anywhere I am. The amazing part is that most of these tools have created iPhone apps so I can look at my data anytime I need to, from anywhere.
This is definitely very cool, but I’m wondering about the security. I also wonder what happens when computers begin to think, take over the world and dictate how I should live.
I like the convenience of the clouds, but I can’t help but think we are approaching a brave new world.
