On my last post I detailed how my life continues to move into the clouds. My information is regularly moving onto other people’s servers. This offers me the convenience of accessing my information wherever I am, but it also opens up the possiblity for abuse since my information is in the hands of others.
Quicken recently contacted me to say that the version I have been using for several years (Quicken Home and Business 2006) will no longer be supported. They’re telling me that, most important to me, I will no longer be able to download my bank data into Quicken unless I upgrade to the newest version. Major inconvenience.
It actually works out to be good timing, because I have been considering exploring other financial management options–specifically those options that exist in the clouds. I’ll be posting my experience with the different services I’m trying out and communicate my thoughts on each.
The ones I’m looking at are: Mint.com, QuickenOnline.com, Wesabe.com and ClearCheckbook.com. See you in the clouds!
