I help people whose future looks withered, whose hope has been shaken, whose safety is shattered, and who wander adrift.
I accomplish these goals in several ways. This website focuses on my practice as a professionally trained coach. Through these skills, I can show people how to achieve their desired future.
I also work as a senior-level administrator at a university in the Dallas, Texas area. There, I’m also an associate professor of ministry leadership where I train individuals to thrive as leaders in the 21st century church.
In the past, I have served in executive roles at Gateway Church, a non-denominational fellowship that draws over 30,000 people each weekend. I have also served with Gateway Worship as part of the weekend worship team where I sang on vocals and played acoustic guitar. In addition, I have served in executive roles in public education in two districts in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
As a coach, my belief is that real transformation is best found in a committed relationship to Jesus Christ. In my coaching services I tend to help people explore life, leadership and executive questions through a Christian lens. It’s not the only mechanism I use, but it most reflects my approach.
I’ve used these pages to write about transformation from the perspective of discipleship, leadership, and worship. I remain a student of communication and have occasionally musee on the technical aspects of communication so that people can help others find transformation. While I don’t use this site to write any longer, you can find my thoughts on the articles page.
Facts You Could Probably Care Less About
- My wife and I were married in 1994. We’ve had 4 children together. We now have three grandchildren and encourage our adult kids to pursue their best lives. We also have three dogs Reya, JoJo, and Jewels.
- On January 18, 2008, I contracted a virus that attacked my heart. The virus shut down my whole system, required transportation to a hospital in Dallas via CareFlight, and left me moments away from a heart transplant. But the Lord intervened on my behalf and I was thoroughly healed–no heart transplant, no major surgeries. You can read more about it here, and here; and listen to it here. The scripture read over me was 2 Corinthians 1:9. It has changed my life!
- In a decade of serving at Gateway Church, I have overseen the areas of discipleship through Equip, Freedom, Stewardship, Staff Development and Leadership. I have provided direction to the Care Services area which focuses on Counseling, Pastoral Ministry, and Asset Allocation. I’ve published around 15 articles in both the secular and sacred fields.
- I’m a huge fan of the “Lord of the Rings” Trilogy; I love “It’s a Wonderful Life” during Christmas; and the first time I saw “Sixth Sense” I was blown away. Since then I’ve become a big fan of psychological thrillers.
- My favorite sports team is the Dallas Cowboys. I’ve been grieving this silly team for almost 30 years, and thought surely Romo would get ’em there. He didn’t. Will Dak???
- My wife and I love to watch TV shows together. We’ve binged Lost (I didn’t like the ending the first time through, but after watching the series a second time it’s growing on me), Burn Notice, The Practice, Fringe, Walking Dead. I remain convinced Breaking Bad is one of the best TV shows ever created.
- I’m an avid reader. Of course, I love the Bible, but it does sound a little cliche. Generally I love reading both fiction and non-fiction and usually have about six to ten books going at once–about a quarter are fiction.
