Robert Morris, Senior Pastor at Gateway Church in Southlake, spoke at the Gateway Connect Conference on Tuesday morning. He looked at leadership and ministry through a 360 degree approach. These are my notes from his session.

Jimmy Evans – (still working on these…)
- Our vision is to see people saved, healed, set free, discipled, equipped, empowered and serving.
- The church is an assembly line. What are you producing? What is the end product? What is the process that provides the end product.
ON SALVATION
- If many people actively engaged in the work of God NEVER knew Christ, how many more just sit in the pew.
- Believing in God is not the same as submitting your will.
- In America you need to get lost before you can get saved.
ON HEALING
- Saved is the Greek word sodzo and means to be made whole
- Our spirits have been made whole
- Our souls are being made whole
- Our bodies will be made whole
- All blame comes from the devil
- Blame, shame, and fame
- The truth: God has provided the forgiveness of sins and the healing of disease
- The Bible is not a cafeteria where you choose what you want.
- God has provided forgiveness, but we still sin. We won’t be perfect till we die
God has provided healing, but we still get sick. We won’t be perfect till we die. - God bore our sickness on the cross, so why would you want to bear it.
- It is easy to disciple people who have been emotionally healed.
- The worst word in the English language is cope. You just need to cope with it.
- Two extremes in physical healing that damage the church
- God can heal everyone but only those he chooses–this puts the blame on God.
- everyone has already been healed and if you have enough faith you can receive it–this puts the blame on the person
ON BEING SET FREE
- It’s possible for believers to be in bondage.
- We are filled with the holy spirit by yielding to the holy spirit
- It’s difficult to admit you’re in bondage.
- Satan does not have the power to stop you from coming to Jesus
- It’s easy to be set free.
ON DISCIPLESHIP
- You can’t disciple a demon and you can’t cast out the flesh
- We need deliverance and discipleship
- People have to be healed and set free before they can be discipled
- Discipleship is the basics of the Christian faith
ON EQUIPPING
- It’s not the five-fold ministry; its the six-fold ministry: don’t forget the Saints.
- Someone may hold one of those offices, but they’re also a Saint.
ON EMPOWERMENT
- How do we empower people?
- Receive Jesus–When we give, we exert our will. When we receive, we submit our will.
- Receive the Holy Spirit
- Receive spiritual authority–There is no authority unless you are under authority. There is no sending of the Holy Spirit unless human authority has participated.
ON SERVING
- The highest in the Bible is the servant.
